The vaginal microbiota is a dynamic ecosystem that plays a key role in intimate well-being. Under balanced conditions (eubiosis), it is predominantly composed of lactobacilli, which contribute to maintaining a naturally acidic pH, generally within the range of 4.0–4.5.
This environment supports the natural mucosal defence mechanisms and creates conditions that are less favourable to the proliferation of Candida spp. and certain opportunistic bacteria.
When this balance is disrupted (dysbiosis), pH tends to increase, lactobacilli may decrease, and recurrent symptoms may occur, with a potential impact on daily comfort.
